PM recommends a 4" Vise and I like their "Homge Ultra High Precision" 4" model. This is the route I'll go for a traditional milling vise. But I was also thinking a toolmakers vise might be an good alternative. Shars has a 5x6" toolmaker which has larger capacity, lower profile, and supposedly more precisely ground surfaces than the PM.

Mar 11, 2021. #1. I am really close to buying a new vise for my milling machine. I have been looking at the Tegara 440V 4" vise from Shars. I "appears" to be a decent vise, it has to be much better than what I am using now. I can't justify the price of a Kurt for hobby use.
